Savanna Lodge is an exclusive 5-star lodge, situated in the internationally famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve within the Greater Kruger National Park. Savanna lies in an area where ‘Big 5’ sightings are so frequent, it is not unusual to see lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos in a single game drive.
Savanna Lodge boasts nine exquisite suites. Seven of the suites have tented roofs, blending with the elegance of a by-gone colonial era with all the convenience of modern facilities. Each suite offers guests private patios, plunge pools and outdoor showers, as well as air-conditioned interiors, minibars stocked with inviting treats, a coffee machine and décor that epitomises the elegance of understated luxury.
The thatched Savanna Suite is perfect for families, featuring two en-suite bedrooms on either side of a spacious, elegant lounge and large covered patio. The bedroom suites with their individual bathrooms can also be booked separately, in which case they would not include the lounge, private vehicle, and guides which are part of the Savanna Suite package.
Enjoy a fully stocked wine cellar and bar ensuring your thirst is always quenched. Delight in a meal whilst sitting around the traditional Shangaan boma and purchase a precious memento of your experience from the curio shop.
Adjacent to the world-renowned Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sand Game Reserve is famed for its intimate wildlife encounters, particularly leopard viewing. Home to a host of animals, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino), the Sabi Sand is part of a conservation area that covers over two million hectares (almost five million acres), an area equivalent to the state of New Jersey.
With no boundary fences between the Sabi Sand and the Kruger National Park, this reserve benefits from the great diversity of animals found in one of the richest wildlife areas on the African continent, along with the additional benefits experienced on a private game reserve.
Game drives traverse an area of 10 500 hectares (26 000 acres) and strict vehicle limits at sightings ensure the exclusivity of the game viewing experience. Sensitive off-road driving ensures that guests have the best possible view of any exceptional sighting and rangers are constantly in touch with each other to keep track of animal movements.
