Mont Rochelle is a unique hotel overlooking a stunning vineyard located just an hour away from Cape Town. Franschhoek is a traditional vineyard town within the Western Cape Province, most commonly known as the French Corner of the Cape and is considered to be the food and wine capital of South Africa.

The main hotel of Mont Rochelle boasts 22 rooms, including 6 suites arranged around the main building. There are 5 different room types, starting with the Shiraz rooms which feature a king-size bed and breath-taking of the courtyard or the valley. The Merlot rooms are larger than the Shiraz rooms and boast valley-views with a king-size bed. The Cabernet rooms include a private terrace with views of the valley. The Pinotage Suites feature a separate lounge and fantastic views. And lastly, guests staying in the Cap Classique Suites can enjoy a separate lounge area, a private terrace and a private plunge pool. All rooms can be made up with twin beds upon request. For guests looking for a more exclusive experience, can book the Manor House, perfect for families or small groups.
Each room comes with Africology branded bathroom amenities, tea and coffee facilities, a Nespresso machine, postcards with stamps, a safety deposit box, hairdryer, a well-stocked minibar, Bose sound system and a flat-screen TV with a selection of channels. For international guests, adapters and hair straighteners are available at reception.
Guests can dine at any of the two restaurants at Mont Rochelle, the Miko or The Country Kitchen. These establishments showcase the very best that Franschhoek has to offer, whatever the reason or the season. Adjacent to the winery is the Country Kitchen, an ideal spot for a light lunch. All room rates include breakfast which is served at the Miko.
The bar is the perfect spot for pre or post-dinner drinks or even light meals throughout the day. The bar is also open for an afternoon coffee or just for something refreshing on those hot days. There is also a handy terrace where guests can soak up the sun coupled with magnificent views.
What to do at Mont Rochelle
Mont Rochelle has two dedicated spa treatment rooms as well as a Hammam. All products are part of the eco-friendly Africology ‘Authentic’ range which are made from 100% essential oils and natural plant extracts. Resident guests are welcome to make sure of the Hammam at their own leisure as long as it is not in use for a scheduled treatment.
For active guests, the gym is available between 6 am and 10 pm daily. The gym is fully equipped with two treadmills, bikes, an adjustable bench and suspension training pack, dual adjustable pulley and a multipower machine, a set of free weights and a body ball.
The best way to explore the beautiful routes found at Mont Rochelle is on a bike, which can be arranged with the hotel.
For more adventurous guests a hike is the perfect way to explore the hills, valleys and vineyards surrounding the hotel and the local nature reserves. The Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve is located on the opposite side of the valley and offers superb views of the wine valley and on clear days, guests can even spot the Table Mountain and the ocean.
