With soft neutral bushveld colours throughout and massive windows bringing the African wildlife indoors, guests will experience unprecedented relaxation while enjoying the sights and sounds that Mabula Game Lodge has to offer. Watch the warthogs nibble their way through the gardens and hear the incessant chatter of happy birds as you relax on your patio or escape the African heat in your cosy lounge. Soothe your weary muscles in the shower for a quick wake-up dip before boarding your morning safari. All rooms are air-conditioned; contain LCD flat-screen television, en-suite bathroom, telephone, hairdryer, safe and tea/coffee making facility. One of the Superior rooms is wheel-chair accessible and there are 3 sets of inter-leading Superior rooms.

Enjoy a light lunch amidst the call of Grey Loeries on the terrace, retire to the lodge’s main restaurant or savour a scrumptious dinner under the stars in Mabula Game Lodge’s traditional Boma dining venue accompanied by the rhythmic beat of traditional African dancers. For special occasions, there’s nothing more magical than dining under the stars at one of Mabula’s legendary bush dinners; the flickering lights, the sounds of the African wilderness, traditional South African cuisine with great company creating a unique dining experience.

You could spend two weeks at Mabula Game Lodge and not experience the vast array of activities on offer for both young and old. From quad biking to bird walks, stargazing safaris to dam picnics, horseback safaris to guided bush walks to fill your days and nights with all that the Mabula bushveld as to offer. During peak periods such as South African school holidays, Mabula Game Lodge offers its Cubz Club children’s program, which teaches kids all about the magic of the wilderness and wildlife. If you are looking for some time to fully relax, indulge in an exotic menu of time-honoured spa treatments under the skilful hands of the Mabula Spa therapists. Calm your mind, while absorbing the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings and then escape to a world without stress.

Safaris are offered to lodge guests twice a day – once early morning and again in time for sundowners in the late afternoon, and depending on the time of year you visit, each experience can be unique. Watch the vivid change of the seasons as the green thickets and grasslands give way to the bushveld greys and yellows of autumn. Feel the chilly winter air on your cheeks before sunrise and witness the rebirth of the bush as the first summer rains fall and with it the exciting arrival of lambing season.

    About Mabula Game Reserve

Only two short hours’ drive north of Johannesburg in the beautiful Waterberg lies the African wonder that is Mabula Private Game Reserve. This 12,000-hectare of the malaria-free reserve is home to an abundance of wildlife and birdlife, including the world-famous Big Five.

Mabula is split by a service road to the South which creates two separate sections of the Mabula Private Game Reserve. In the South, there is the Madjuma section which is about 3500-hectares and is host to a phenomenal pride of Lion. This section of the reserve carries all species except for Elephant, Cheetah and Buffalo. Guests cross through a tunnel under the service road to connect between the two sections of the reserve.

The Northern territories carry all species except Lion which has allowed us to reintroduce Cheetah into this reserve. These cheetahs are thriving, and we were delighted to welcome the birth of four cubs in January 2015 which hails the first free-roaming cheetah in this area in almost fifty years.

Home to some 60 mammals, 300 bird species, 100 plant types and numerous reptile and insect species, at Mabula Game Reserve, all natures' wonders are revered. This is the Heartland of the South African Safari experience.
